Parish Groups

  • Preschool Movement & Music

Every Tuesday morning at 9.30am, from the beginning of February to mid-December, children and their parents and caregivers come to the Aldred Complex hall to sing, play, dance and make music together. Classes are based on the Canterbury Musical Parenting Association ideas of musical play and using the elements to help pre-schoolers develop cognitive, language, gross-motor and fine-motor skills using action songs, nursery rhymes, finger plays, pitch and rhythm games and having fun together.

After 30 to 40 minutes of music led by Jody Keehan, volunteers from the St Alban’s Uniting Church parish serve up morning tea to the families while the children have playtime.

Cost per child is $2. Bookings not required, just come along and join in!

    Jody Keehan Biography

Jody Keehan is a musician, mum and concert organiser who feels very lucky to be able to be able to combine her love of music into everything she does.

  • Community Garden

This project is in its infancy and at the moment consists of a well cultivated back yard behind the church offices. The parish envisages a group of people from the community involved in planting and harvesting vegetables and learning gardening skills from the small band of green fingered members of the congregation. However at the moment we have more garden than community and would welcome interest from people in the area who would like the opportunity to come to our monthly Saturday morning gardening and barbecue gatherings. Initial enquiries can be made by phoning the Parish Office 385 7545

  • Men's Shed

The Men’s Shed is abrand new purpose built and well equipped workshop within the St Albans Uniting complex and membership is open to any men in the community however wide people wish the definition of community to be.

It can provide a place to work and fellowship for men who have been involved in wood and metalwork activities, both as hobbies and employment in the past but, because of downsizing of accommodation or a growing need to work with others for safety and mobility issues, can no longer have access to a place to continue their interests. But it is also open to any men looking for fellowship and a space to work at their hobbies.

So far there are two sessions per week, Monday 1:30pm-4pm and Saturday10am There is room for other sessions but we need each group to include a qualified tradesperson to be part of any group for safety reasons.

Contacts are Bill Pearcy for the Monday Group on 980 9538 or John Boxall 352 0096 for Saturday Morning

  • Women’s Fellowship

Our group is a combination of Methodist Women’s Fellowship (MWF) and Association of Presbyterian Women (APW) and meets in the church lounge on the first Tuesday of the month at 12noon.

  • Bible Study Group

Every Wednesday morning at 10:00am in the church lounge there is a bible study based ion the lectionary.  It is a good way of learning more about the bible in a planned way, because the studies are on the readings for the Sunday services that follow.

Everyone is welcome.  We begin with tea, coffee and biscuits and some lively conversation!
